Holy smokes.  What the hell is going on here this week?  First Davey's bad fortune, and now Jeff Rankin passes away.

He had been racing the asphalt circuit last season after years of being a regular at Butler.  I last saw him race at South Bend Motor Speedway in the AVSS race.

R.I.P. Longhair.

Thanks Fish for putting together the memories.  As always, great photos. So many of our Michigan sprint car drivers cut their teeth on the Butler oval.
