SOD points

I have a question that has been on my mind all week. Dustin was penalized for a wing infraction at South Buxton. This was a SOD sanctioned race so i am thinkin SOD rules. So if we don't use SOD rules, then why did everyone accumulate SOD points. Kinda confusing to me. Can anyone shed some light for me?

man, don't get me started on this again. We had a nice discussion on this subject earlier this week on TJ's facebook page. I agree 100%, a SOD race means SOD rules should apply. You should be able to roll a SOD legal car out of the trailer and run it, no modifing, changing or buying different parts. This is one of the reasons so few teams run the "co-sanctioned" events and they need to be eliminated for the schedule as point races. Don't anyone get me wrong, SOD is a great series with great teams and officials and always put on a good show! I just hate to see the season points championship determined on race attendance. No easy answer Im afraid.

Thanks for the comment Joe. I agree with you. You roll a SOD car out of the trailer at a SOD race, there should be no questions about who's rules you are going to follow.

The rulebook for these events was posted on the Ohsweken website long before the start of the season, and the press release (from December 29!) announcing the events has this printed in it: "Canadian Sprint Car Nationals technical rules will apply."

So, what you are saying, Tommy, is that the evidence points to the persons/teams racing were in the wrong when they thought the rules were different.

Looks like an open and shut case to me - the evidence is clear.

But then again, Casey Anthony was just found innocent of killing her daughter.  So, what do I know, eh?

wonderin how the cheater that got disquilified still got paid start money and also still got points for the night, seems like if ur caught cheating you should get nuthing except thrown in jail  & a fine.

I'm not saying anything...just stating facts I was aware of.

I do think it's unfortunate that some people have bad-mouthed co-sanctioned events, and/or racing in Canada in general because of what happened. There was a huge crowd at South Buxton, and those who attended saw the largest field there since 2007.
