Then Greg Moore got killed.  A wreck I wish to never see highlights (lowlights) of again.

i remember that crash very well.  he was the only indy driver i have ever really liked, dad had taped the race, and i can remember watching it over and over again.  i still have the tape in my closet at my moms house

doesn't eldora fit inside the pit road at bristol?

Regardless, I agree that its amazing how close in times the dirt and pavement really are, rules and symantics aside.

I watched some of those old dirt bristol vids on youtube the other day, and they did mention that the track had less banking with the dirt.

It's been about a week.  Nothing back from Winchester Speedway yet.

Maybe they are mad at me  & put me on their sh-t list because I haven't been there in a few years...?

I'll keep trying.

I heard back from Winchester Speedway.

The track record is, in fact, held by Cameron Dodson at 13.539 seconds.  He set it in a winged sprinter.

The non-wing sprinter record (USAC) is Tracy Hines at 13.964 seconds.

Ryan Newman has the midget record at 14.590 seconds.

As far as the records show, Bentley Warren has the supermod record at 13.992 seconds.

One must realize that Bristol is measured at .533 miles around whereas Winchester is a true half mile.  So, the direct comparison between the two is like comparing an apple to a pear.  Kind of like when Volusia broke the dirt track half mile record back in February when compared to Eldora.  So, even with Bristol being a little bigger around, the lap times there at Bristol were shorter.

I'd like to thank Kirk down at Winchester for the help.  He reminded me, and I will remind all of you, that they have the Must See XTreme Sprints along with the USAC Sprints down there more than a few times this season, not to mention ARCA and the CRA Super Series Late Models.  Always an exciting place, that Winchester Speedway.

On a sidebar, they (the Xtreme Sprints) did some tire testing at Winchester prior to going down to Bristol for the record run.  Pretty cool.

What a cool deal that was for Jason Blonde. A lot of familiar faces that can trace some of their racing background to Butler. Made me proud.

For those that don't know, Jerry Kelly that helped fix the car after hitting the wall is the grandson of Hank Lower. Son of late racer Curt Kelly.

I DVR'ed the program and watched it late Saturday night.  Pretty awesome to see someone like Jason and Mike Litchy get some quality television time.  Clauson was impressive in the wingless car as well.  Scott Russell even trying that on a motorcycle was insane!
