Glad you liked it, Tommy.  I'm just calling them as I see them.

Made it back home last night.  I'd like to say it's good to be back but I'd be lying!

Still have to unload the car, change the oil out, clean up around the back by the rabbits and hens, do some shopping for lunch/work the next four nights, and bury one of our little love birds who apparently passed away some time yesterday.  I'm sure gonna miss the little guy.

Night 5 at Volusia was fairly uneventful.  Not much caught my eye.

Danny Smith had loaded up and headed out.  The night before I asked him if he was going to run the entire All Star circuit, but he was unsure.

Steve Kinser once again had incredible luck on his side by drawing pole position for the Dash.  Absolutely incredible....!

Dollansky was the class of the field again for about 3/4 of it.  This time he apparently ran the tires off of it late in the Feature after distancing himself.  Sides and Steve Kinser had a good battle, with Sides coming out on top.

Fred Rahmer snuck up on everyone in the A Main and got 3rd.

Joey Saldana was crowned the King of the DirtCar Nationals.  I guess he compiled the most points.  That's nice, I guess, but when two guys win two each (Sammy and Steve) it seems a little odd that a guy who won none was crowned King.  Once again, perhaps sprint cars are taking a que from NASCAR in determining who is the best.  You know - where you don't have to win to win.

It wouldn't surprise me if we see a Chase for the WoO Championship coming down the line someday.  Or, has NASCAR figured out that isn't exciting yet?

Joey ran a MOPAR, too, I hear.  In all honesty, I never looked.  Everything I saw there was GM based, but I didn't look all that close come to think of it.  In fact, I never got near the Kasey Kahne pits.  So, using THAT theory, Dodge is the ticket this year?   Cheesy

Jason Meyers is still nowhere near the pointed end of the field.

Funny how a few nights ago, Schatz made a great run from 17th to 2nd in the A Main.  Sunday Night, the track was about the same - taking rubber.  Schatz could do nothing spectacular.  Fred Rahmer, on the other hand was exactly opposite.  He was on fire Sunday Night.

The only thing that stirred my mind Sunday Night was when Ben Gregg missed his qual spot.  He went out last vice when he was supposed to due to an engine change.  When you do that in WoO, you cannot qual higher than 16th.  At best you can be 17th.  That way, you are not part of the inversion process.

I always thought you just got one lap of qual vice two, but..... rules change over the years.

Bowyer won the modified feature again.  Yawn.....  What started out as a great contest for the week sure turned one sided as the bigger $$$ spoke.  But, that's racing, eh?

When we went to leave our motel Monday morn, Guy Forbrook was in the lobby waiting for his ride.  He had been helping out with Sam Hafertepe, Jr., all week long.  I asked him if it was for the year, but he said no.  Only for Volusia.

I'll see everyone somewhere down the line when the local action starts.  I see the All Stars finally released their 2011 schedule.  I'll start there with planning my 2011 events.

So long, Volusia.  See you again, some time.

The qualifying thing comes from drivers on heavy tracks opting to take one lap at the tail, and then qualifying faster b/c the track became quicker.

Ahhhh..... A rule put in place because drivers were cheating.

Thanks, TJ.
