Woo Late Models at Winston/Merritt Aug. 19-20

I am really scratching my head how either of these tracks can afford to put on such a big show. Are tickets going to $35 a piece to pay the purse. I know in the past Merritt has complained about not making enough money paying a SOD purse with almost a full house let alone a purse 5-7 times a SOD purse. I am sure the Late Model fans are happy but it is going to be interesting to see how they make out.

$50,000 purse just for the WoO plus employee payroll etc.
no sure how many fans the tracks hold, but some quick math will tell you how much the tickets will be. I am thinking like Duane 35-40.

I dunno. 3000 @$25.00 a head will be about the break even point. That really is not all that far fetched. However, it is a huge gamble, especially with two shows in the state that weekend. Iffy weather either night could really hurt the track.
I just shake my head. If I put 2000 people in the stands the track owner would whine about how he is not making any money. And my purse was 10 times less!

Two words...track rental (similar to SLS renting I-96 for the Outlaws)
I have difficultly believing either track operator is promoting either of those shows. That being said Winston's capacity is under 2K people, so I'm assuming some extra seating would be put in (somewhere). I also don't see Merritt seating more people than Winston, but I could be off on that.
I can think of one local entity with enough equity in the late model world that would want to take on such a venture.

Just a side note. Hartford has the World Of Outlaws Late Models running there on Friday April 29th. No sprint car dates though.
