Too bad the guys on the inside of the parade lap had to run on the infield. I have not seen it from a drivers perspective, but it looks like when you are going into 1 it is completely blind. Then if someone drops the left side really low, the dust flies so bad you can't see anyway. Too bad Mike couldn't have moved the back stretch of the 3/8's back about 15-20 ft to allow for keeping the front the same width. I know that would involve some major changes to the wall and lighting, but it is too bad the 1/2 had to take the hit it did. My 2 cents.

I personally felt, at least saturday night, that turn 4 was worse from the dust perspective as alot was created as you were just about to hit the front stretch and it pretty much killed the vision of the wall.  In addition, knowing that the 3/8th's turn 4 outside was looming below, it made for some "boy I hope there is nothing there" moments.  It is pretty sad that sprints can't do a 4 wide without running through the infield  too.

Just say no, to half miles.

Half Miles are great! It takes a little different skill set to be fast. It's too bad that the management at I-96 is trying to make the half miles so bad that nobody will want to race on it. Personally I can't see the reason for having a 3/8 mile just like Crystal, Butler, Mt. Pleasant, Winston, Gas City, Attica, Fremont.......
I always thought that the way to be successful is to offer the fans something different.

What gets me, is that crap track was created by a former sprint car driver. Front stretch is dangerous, and the lighting sucks. Did the lights in turn one go out again?

I dunno, couldnt see the lights through all the dust and flying straw. I have no idea how many times I was completely blinded by the dust for like a second or more at a time (which is a really long time). We're lucky that no one got hurt and only one car went off the end and got destroyed.

Don't know if lights went out...as Gavin said, couldn't have seen them anyway.  If the intent is to do away with the half mile, then do so.  As it stand right now, it is borderline dangerous.  The prep work on it this year is minimal at best.  You know its bad when the second heat race cars are asked for an up or down on whether the track is raceable.

Any chance now that the season finale in September might be staged on the little track?
