.....to get your racing fixes now that the racing season is over and Winter is on the horizon?
I used to watch SPEED Channel's Winter lineup religiously. They would televise the SCCA National Runoffs from this past Fall. However, it doesn't look like it this year. They usually start showing them by now. This year they ran them at Road America vice Heartland Park Topeka. I was looking forward to it, but now realize that big BOOM I heard the other day was me hitting the floor when the rug was pulled out from under me.
Prior to that, they used to air a lot of touring car action - the DTM (Deutsche Tourwagon Masters), the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship), the V8 Supercars from Australia, etc. Granted, the races were condensed into one-hour time slots, but it was something to look forward to. No more. These went by the wayside a few years back. However, the V8s are to return this Spring on a one week later tape delayed basis.
No more Chili Bowl either. I needed something fast to watch. Heck, I used to look forward to bobsledding! A monster truck car crushing contest might even be looked into! But those "good ol' days" are gone, it seems. Now all we seem to get are craps shows about this, crap auctions about that, and crap filler about crap in general.
I now go to the internet. There are sites out there where you could download sprint & midget races from Western Springs Raceway in New Zealand. They have other items, too. Hopefully, they'll be available this year. They were last Winter.
Until then, I look forward to heading to Volusia again for the Winter Nationals in February. I now have to leave to start working out for snow shoveling. Can't get in shape too early, you know.....
