Just What the Doctor Ordered
20 Years after Bobby Allen produced one of the greatest upsets in sprint car racing history the Knoxville Nationals created another drama surprise when Tim Shaffer posted the victory in the 50th Anniversary Edition of the event. With an event that had seen a decline in attendance the 50th anniversary combined with memorable preliminary racing and a thrilling finale should bode well for the future. -

August 12th, 2010 was circled on my calendar the moment the USAC Silver Crown Series schedule came out revealing a Thursday night show at nearby Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan. Big Weekend for Michigan Open Wheel Racing
Opening weekend is a very appropriate phrase for fans of open wheel racing in Michigan this weekend as weekly programs at Spartan and Butler Speedways begin along with the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP lid lifter at Crystal Motor Speedway Friday and Saturday. If the weather is nice Great Lakes area open wheel fans will have plenty of racing to choose from. -
Can the Sprint Bandits Go National?
The Sprint Bandits are back in action this weekend. Don’t adjust your computer monitors or check the date on your system, it isn’t August. For the first time since 2006 the Bandits will venture outside of their normal time period of the traditional TNT tour to hold races over the next two weekends at Golden Triangle Raceway Park, Houston Raceway Park, Devils Bowl Speedway, and I-30 Speedway. -

Bares Tackles Gas City in 2010, Test and Tunes Galore
Six and a half hours separates Joe Bares from his latest sprint car racing endeavor. Last Friday Bares began in hew racing adventure traveling from his home in Traverse City, Michigan, where Bares is a traffic investigator for the Grand Traverse County Sherriff’s Department, to complete the weekly sprint car program at Gas City I-69 Speedway. -
